Flying in the US95th
"Excuses were not tolerated in the 95th. If a pilot felt his plane was not in perfect condition he should not fly. It was final. No explanations were needed nor wanted."
from the book "Heaven High-Hell Deep" by Norman Archibald, US95th WW1 pilot

Welcome to the US95th Aero Squadron - The Kicking Mules
Welcome to the US95th Aero Squadron, the "Kicking Mules". We are a virtual fighter squadron based upon the original WW1 US 95th Aero Squadron of the 1st Pursuit Group, United States Air Service, A.E.F. The US 95th Aero Squadron was the first American Flying Squadron to go to the front in the war of 1914-1918.
We mainly fly the pc flight simulation game Red Baron 3D released by Sierra. Although the Red Baron 3D pc game is no longer in production, it is still an immensely popular WW1 flight simulation game as evidenced by the large number of community web sites and forums dedicated to Red Baron.
Very recently, Sierra/Vivendi has made available the German version of Red Baron 2 for download. Please see the section below on Getting a Copy of the Red Baron game.
Getting a copy of the Red Baron game
Very recently, Sierra/Vivendi has made available the German version of Red Baron 2 for download, but you can easily convert it to an English version of Red Baron 3D.
The first thing you need to do is download the German version of RB2, but be aware the download is approximately 268MB in size and will take a long time to download on a dial up internet connection.
You can download the German version of RB2 from here: RB2 game download
Next you need to download three patches that will convert RB2 to the RB3D version and allow you to play RB3D on the internet.
The first patch file to convert RB2 to RB3D is approximately 11.4MB in size. You can download the patch here: RB2 to RB3D patch
The second patch file is approximately 23MB in size and is needed because it adds some files to complete the update of RB2 to RB3D. It can be downloaded here: RB23DMMP09.zip
The third patch file is approximately 1.4MB in size and is needed because it will allow you to find the RB3D internet game servers and play RB3D on the internet. It can be downloaded here: rb3d1078 patch
Now to install your Red Baron game...
Unzip the rb2_DE.zip file that you downloaded to a temporary folder (I created a folder on the desktop named rb2 and uzipped the files into it) and run setup.exe. It will install the RB2 game to your computer hard drive, usually installing it at C:\SIERRA\RedBaronII\.
Next run the rb3d_spr.exe patch file that you downloaded; it will upgrade RB2 to the RB3D version of the game.
Next unzip the RB23MMP09.zip file to C:\SIERRA\ and let it overwrite any files of the same name. It will add some files to complete the update of RB2 to RB3D.
Now run the rb3d1078.exe patch file that you downloaded; it will allow your RB2 upgraded to RB3D installed game to see all RB3D game servers on the internet and allow you to join in multiplayer games on the internet.
For detailed instructions with images about installing Red Baron, check here: Red Baron installation. Note: the page may take slightly longer to load because of the extra images in the instructions
Good luck and we hope to see you in the virtual skies of Red Baron!
